Why is Blum your go-to for your projects?
“Ever since the beginning of my journey in the industry I have been using Blum! It has stayed with me on my journey from apprenticeship to luxury boat fit outs, to now in all our design + build work. Since coming across the products years ago and visiting the Blum manufacturing factory, I have come to appreciate the high quality, research & development projects, team and integral processes. Plus I strongly believe they have the best soft close mechs for both drawers and doors on the market!” – Darren
What are your favourite Blum products? And why?
“We love that they have such a large range that cater to all kinds of unique functions / applications, and all of them extraordinary in their own rights – so it is difficult to narrow it down to one! We are big lovers of their runners and lift up systems though, in particular the Legrabox in orion grey, inox black hinges and the servodrive lift up mechs. They have all compact, slimline, efficient and been well thought out by Blum in terms of ease of use for both the installers and the homeowners.” – Darren
Why are the Legrabox drawers a favourite when it comes to cabinetry designs?
“The Legrabox drawers are a favourite of ours due to the great colours, slimline wall sides and simplicity in the square form – making them perfect to maximise drawer depth and storage. Their sleek look also enhances the modern aesthetic of our projects!” – Darren
The personalised branding on your drawers – Is this something you opt for in all your projects?
“Yes, we add personalised branding across all our project joinery! We think it’s a great way to not only brand the project for the clients and future homeowners, but it shows that we back the project and the Blum hardware 100%. It’s a nice way to show how proud we are of the Blum quality, and for our clients to feel proud of their Darren James Interiors home too!” – Darren
Do you have a signature style that you carry’s through all your projects?
“We don’t have a signature style and that’s something we are super proud of! We always design specifically to each client, and love to adapt to different styles depending on the architecture, the clients’ desires, and any existing pieces. This means we have no 2 projects which look the ‘same’, no repletion of designs and are able to focus on creating custom design details which are unique to that project.
One common thread which runs through all our projects though is our construction standards and level of quality. As we are a design + build firm we are able to control the level of finishing across all our designs. So no matter what the style of the design, our joinery internals are always the same – coloured carcasses, Blum runners + hinges and quality carpentry details.” – Darren
How important is durability when it comes to kitchens?
“Both busy families and professional couples are our typical cliental – but durability is always important no matter who the client is. Durability goes hand in hand with quality, so creating designs which are not only timeless in aesthetic but also built to last a lifetime is super important. This is another reason why we love Blum, as their products have an epic warranty of up to 20 years!” – Darren
