Farmers is a boutique manufacturing company based on the Gold Coast, that services designers with award winning custom cabinetry for projects of all shapes and sizes. We’ve used Farmers in a range of our projects across the years and are always so amazed by their quality and attention to detail!   

We actually worked closely with Farmers Doors on our Bayview One home to create a beautiful textured oak veneer door with a stunning custom handle profile. After working with Farmers Doors across both traditional and modern genres, it was great to do something different and contemporary for our own home. 

So today in honour of our love for local Australian makers and manufactures, we want to focus our gaze on Farmers and why exactly we love them!

LOCALLY MANUFACTURED

Farmers is proudly owned and run by the Farmer Family, their premium range of cabinetry is crafted from natural timbers using environmentally friendly methods. Every piece is meticulously thought out, crafted in house, finished in a quality 2pac Waterborne paint that is extremely durable and quality checked by hand. As an Australian owned company, established in 1975, they have been producing high quality doors, panels and decorative features to create uniquely beautiful joinery solutions for quite some time.

We love that they are based here in Queensland, making communication, custom samples and the installation of the finished product a smooth process!

QUALITY + SUSTAINABILITY IS ALWAYS FRONT OF MIND

We adore that quality and sustainability is always front of mind for Farmers. They ensure they always select the best, sustainable natural timber from local forest to use across their product ranges. No Poly Vinyl Chloride / PVC or Plastic Melamine or 60/70% VOC 2 Pack Polyurethane or ABS Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene here!

Their eco- friendly secret lies in the core of their doors. They use Australian produced E zero, HMR MDF board, meaning it has a low formaldehyde emitting quality. The MDF they use is also highly moisture resistant so it’s highly durable. Farmers innovations have been driven by extensive research and developments in a desire to focus on the best quality available in all aspects. For their traditional and American oak doors, this core is then enclosed in natural timber veneer. This is the key to the genuine beauty of the Farmers product. As solid timber is subject to expansion and contraction owing to changes in temperature and humidity, Farmers create a solid timber looking product cleverly made by hybrid, timber and veneer combinations with extreme natural uniqueness, a beautiful tactile nature and a more stable materiality.

Timber veneer has been utilized for centuries all over the world and this technique yields all the positive features of solid timber, while maximizing the use of harvested wood. It is a sustainable resource, reusable, recyclable, completely biodegradable and it actually stores carbon. Their production of timber veneer also uses far less energy!

CUSTOM DESIGN CAPABILITIES 

As everything is made to order with Farmers the design capabilities are completely flexible and the option is all yours! Whether it’s for a country or provincial space, or many something more modern – the joinery can be custom designed to suit. From raw oak timber to the Farmers perfected stains range, 2 pac colours of your choosing to gloss percentages, even the way the timbers cut. (Grain texture of timber is like a colour in itself!) So we get to specify it all and as a result, create a completely unique joinery solution which is individual to that home. So obviously we LOVE this design flexibility! 

As all of their production takes place in their own factory, they also ensure a close quality control over all the production process, from production to painting. A meticulous online to CNC ordering system is actioned, combined with hand crafted skills that no machine but only a humans touch can achieve.
