One of our highly anticipated reveals …. our Ascot Residence! Bring you the first part of this project reveal – the kitchen!
We were brought in to redesign the kitchen in this iconic Ascot mansion. The existing design with it’s dated colour pallet and limited storage was in need of a new life – one which suited the characteristics of the rest of the home. The flow of the existing kitchen was also visually disturbed due to an awkward structural beam going right through the bench top.
The client desired a substantial space which allowed for both day to day cooking as well as hosting formal catered events. The client requested top of the line appliances, functional finishes and integrated lighting solutions.
Aesthetically, the challenge was to bring a new style perspective which worked within the traditional Hamptons design language of the existing home. The client expressed a preference for dark and bold finishes alongside subtle yet impactful design detailing.
BEFORE –
Functionally, the space was zoned as front and back of house. The front of house was the showpiece containing top of the line trophy appliances including integrated Sub Zero fridge and freezer and a suite of Gaggenau appliances with multiple ovens, gas cook tops and a bench top downdraft solution. The large extent of cooking appliances where specifically designed into the space to cater to the clients frequent events held within the home. The large island bench features a single sink, bridge tap and dishwasher for all the day to day needs.
A concealed beam was added over the island bench which allowed for the removal of the existing column in the center of the room. Additional square meterage was achieved through the repositioning of the scullery entry door, removal of a standalone cold storage room and the partial box out of an unused linen cupboard. This was truly designed as a smart kitchen with Blum Servo Drive touch technology on all drawers as well as C-Bus integration to all lighting and integrated sensor driven LED lighting in all drawers and cupboards. All the drawers and cupboards are an absolute perfectionist delight with custom made drawer inserts and even an organised spice drawer!
AFTERS –
Bespoke Black Japan stained oak custom timber doors with brass and herringbone detailing was designed. One of the stand outs of the design has got to be the concealed utility bench space completely wrapped with brass internals and shelving. The doors of this concealed space pocket back to show off this feature and create a stunning display space for all your special glassware. All elements of the design combine to give this traditional home a modern and glamorous edge and a kitchen that is both functional and luxurious, suitable for both the needs of everyday use and to meet the demands of catered events and parties.
Within the scullery, a custom cold-room with two-way glass doubles as display and extra storage for catered events. Also, within this zone, a multi functional Zip Tap and large pantry were incorporated along with an additional washing up zone including two additional dishwashers perfect for hiding mess.
Stay tuned for the reveal of the rest of the home soon…
