With a new year, brings new projects! While we have got a lot of exciting new things happening on site and in the design process here in the studio, we are also working on a heap of new online content for you guys!
So bringing to you our first Q&A of the series we will be running every month, where we will be answering our most frequently asked questions. Hoping this will give you all a good insight into how we work, who we are and what’s happening in our studio life!
So lets have a chat! ~
Q – How many years have you been in the design / construction industry?
A – We have been working in the industry since 2005, making these year our 14th year! Wow how time flies, and to think about how far we have come not only as a team but a business, and all that we have achieved really does blow our mind! We really do believe this will be our best year yet though!
Q – What cad program do you use for your designs / renders?
A- We are currently using a program called Pytha for our design documentation and rendering. We have been using this particular software for years, as it gives us the killer render quality we have become known for. These incredibly realistic render images of what a proposed design may look like help craft the vision for our designs, and expose the clients to the form, material and lighting outcomes. Our renders often interpret what the client has been dreaming of into a reality, and the design love really begins.

Q – How long do your projects usually take? What’s the time frames that take place with the jobs?
A- To put an average time on our projects as a whole would be impossible as each job is so unique – ranging in size, scale, materials and availability. Depending on the amount of rooms, the size of the property and the scale of the work that needs to be done can vary the project in means of months and months. Projects can often take up to a year from initial client engagement to complete finished product, however we always try and work in with desirable time frames and clients living arrangements. Often jobs will get staged out, which again can extend the time frame.
Q – Is your studio by appointment visits only?
A- Yes, our studio is actually by appointment only. We love getting to meet you though and getting to hear about your projects and aspirations – so we are only a phone call away! Upon calling our studio, you will get to have a chat with one of our interior designers who will talk you through your property, your design hopes and desires and also how we work as a studio and the processes we run though. Or alternatively call us up to arrange a meet and greet, where we can book in a time for you to visit our studio and meet the lovely team behind Darren James Interiors. As we know how overwhelming the design industry can be, and how difficult it can be to figure out who is the right fit for your renovation. We think it’s just as important for you to get to know us, as it is for us to get to know you!
Q – When will we get to see your new studio space?
A- Our new studio space in East Brisbane is one of our most exciting projects to date! We hope you are just as excited as we are to see this renovation come to life. We have got some major work to do on regenerating and refreshing this heritage building, but things are already starting to take shape as we design our teams new studio / home.
We were originally hoping to begin moving into the new space mid Feb, but have decided we would much rather make the studio into our absolute dream and incorporate all the selections we love rather then rushing things. So if it all pans out well we will have our freshly painted walls, new engineered flooring, bathroom design and exciting collection of furniture in by the end of April for us to move in! So yes delays even effect us too, just the nature of the design and construction world. However, sometimes a delay can be for all the right reasons and allow us to execute the project to perfection.
