Are you a folder, hanger or scruncher?
When it comes to towels, how you display them really does have a bigger visual impact then you would initially think. So lets turn that subconscious post shower towel hang into the everyday styling item that makes your bathroom! There are endless variations of looks you can create with your towels and each boast a different overall look and feel. So whether it’s changing up the way you hang them, switching out for a new colour or selecting a completely different style – your space can have a face lift with a simple swap!
THE FOLD
A perfectionist dream – the good old fold! If getting those clean lines and neat stacks is what you’re after then this is the look for you. More of a structured look, folding your towels either over your towel rail or within a vanity nook can be done a number of ways. You could opt for the perfect half, half + half again or the classic thirds, or maybe even the half + half + thirds! The folding look is one that boasts a much more traditional look – creating symmetry and control.
THE HANG
The effortless hang – leaving your towel draped in such a way that it almost forms a work of art on the wall. We love selecting beautiful hooks for our bathroom spaces, so with that comes beautifully hung towels! Sometimes less is more when it comes to hanging, all it takes is the one right towel to break up any bathroom wall.
THE SCRUNCH
Oh the scrunch, or in some cases possibly a stylized placement to create that ‘just thrown down here’ look. We love the organic nature that comes with the soft lines and flowing tactile form of a towel thrown over a basin or bathtub. Stylistically effortless!
THE ROLL
Nothing says home spa like a lovely little rolled hand towel or face washer by the sink. Feel like this look can definitely translate through to your larger bath towels too though. Stacking a few rolled towels into a vanity nook is a great way to add a point of interest to your joinery whilst allowing you to store your towels in a visually appealing way! No more stashing them away in the linen cupboard out of site!
THE LAYER
Layering up your towels is always a good idea, but we need to move past the plain hand and bath towels all lined up side by side and have some fun with it! Overlapping your towels in combinations of contrasting size, material or colour can be a great way to add dimension and texture.
THE MATCHING COMBINATION
The classic pigeon pair – some people either love or hate the matchy matchy towel look. What’s your stance on this? Personally we believe it completely depends on the bathroom and what the design needs (or doesn’t need!). In some cases the bathroom is a beautiful blank canvas of neutral materials screaming for some mixed textures or colours. Where as others may have hero tiles or patterns that speak enough interest on their own, therefore catering to a much more restrained selection.
THE MIXED COMBINATION
Saving the best to last…. the mixed combo! We are big lovers of mixing up your towels and creating combinations that hang on your bathroom wall like a work of art. It’s just like selecting a mix of coloured and patterned cushions for your sofa, only in a space most wouldn’t expect – the bathroom. So if an array of mixed towels is what your heart desires we say go for it – Mix matching isn’t a crime in our eyes!
