Despite the fireplace being a common element to many homes around the world for decades, it still remains a luxurious addition to any home – especially here in Queensland! We are suckers for timeless pieces in a home and a fireplace is one that truly stands the test of time. Whether it’s a traditional or a modern interpretation, the fireplace not only looks beautiful but impacts the overall mood and ambience of a space – and I mean any space – living room, formal dining room, master suite and even the outdoors alfresco areas!
We are always looking locally and internationally for inspiration and we especially love watching how much fireplace design evolves as the years go on. So today we are sharing some of our favourite fireplace designs this winter season!
Double Sided
As the open plan concept of living becomes more popular so is the concept of double sided fireplaces! They are a great way to partition a room allowing flow from space to space whilst also allowing both rooms to benefit from the light and heat.
Feature Fireplace
In climates that aren’t always needing a fireplace in action (aka… here) integrating your fireplace into a feature of the space will means that your fireplace will have purpose in your home even when it’s not in use. Better yet even in cooler climates having a feature will help make the fireplace the focal point of your room, with the help of your furnishings too of course. Last week on the blog we covered off our tips making your living room winter ready.
Exposed
Not every body is lucky enough to have a beautiful age old fireplace in their home, but that’s not to say you can’t have a traditional fireplace at all. If you are wanting to include a fireplace in your home but not sold on the modern styles, this is where exposed fireplaces come in! The raw nature speaks for itself and certainly introduces a cozy feel to the space.
Traditional
Nothing says fireplace quite like a traditional mantle! Whether its a traditional wood mantel with curved corbels, and old cladded stone or brick or even a ornate old metal I can guarantee you that it will always look beautiful for decades to come!
Outdoor Fireplace
We cannot forget one of our favourite places to design and therefore our favourite places to include the addition of a fireplace – outside! Outdoor heaters are becoming more and more discreet but let’s be honest, nothing beats the flames of a real fire! I can guarantee that your outdoor space will become much more popular by your family and friends – especially in the cooler months, curling up in front of the fire with a blanket and glass of red – need I say more!
