Where did those last 365 days go? What a year 2022 has been!
As we wrap up things here for the year and enter into our studio break, we wanted to take a moment to look back. Rewinding through the last 12 months there has been so many highs, lows, accomplishments, challenges and most importantly lasting memories. We had a big year both in the studio, and on site and we always end the year feeling so lucky to have such an amazing team and wonderful clients who make our projects possible.
So, lets rewind 2022 and reflect on all the best bits!

DENFAIR TRIP TO MELBOURNE
One of the top highlights that has stuck with our team has got to be the trip to Melbourne in February for the annual Denfair design trip. The design team headed down for a few days soaking up the design fair, local showrooms, vintage stores and eating destinations Melbourne has to offer! Safe to say we all came back feeling excited and inspired after what was the first design trip in years.
MILAN DESIGN WEEK + 3DAYS OF DESIGN COPENHAGEN
The return of Milan Design Week and 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen quickly got added to our design calendar this year! In June Darren, Elissa and Kari headed over to Europe to represent DJI at these landmark design fairs which returned in 2022. Exploring all that the Salone del Mobile fair, Milan districts, showroom parties, product launches, events and 3daysofdesign Copenhagen experience had in store. The design exposure of details, materials, concepts and new offerings that comes from these international design trips is always so valuable!

NEW STUDIO PUP GEORGE
This year also bought something very new and exciting to studio life here at DJI – our new studio pup George! This handsome cavoodle has stolen the heart of all the team here in the studio, any visitors here for meetings and of course his loving family at home. He brings a loving, comforting and fun feel to the sometimes stressful studio environment.

PROJECT PHOTOSHOOTS
We completed a number of photoshoots for our recently completed projects this year. It’s always so nice to see the finished projects come to life on photoshoot day – capturing all the best angles and details of the design and comparing the amazing finished photos to the existing before photos from just a few months prior! We know our clients love receiving the beautiful images of their finished spaces too!
Some new photoshoots from this year included our Main Beach Apartment, Southport House (Basement, Kitchen + Scullery and Living Spaces) and our Paradise Waters Apartment (which we’ll be revealing to you all soon)
HIA AWARD WINS
We were lucky enough to win a line up of HIA awards across both the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Queensland overall regions this year! These awards included 2022 tiles for our Woolstore Apartment, Bayview One House, Main Beach Apartment and Southport House.

EXCITING NEW DESIGNS IN THE WORKS
The design team have been hustling away here in the studio this year, working on a lot of great up and coming design projects! We can’t wait to see these designs come through to fruition in the new year!

BUILT + HANDED OVER SOME GREAT PROJECTS
As a design and build firm we are honoured to be apart of our clients journey all the way from briefing to finished concept, construction drawings through to the finished built space. Our site team had a big and busy year on site this year with projects from Burleigh Heads and Paradise Waters, through to Clontarf and Sandgate to name a few. Whilst our furnishings team ordered, procured and installed a number of great furnishings projects this year from New South Wales through to Noosaville!
The best part is always handing the completed home back to our clients and seeing their happy faces – Our happiest reaction of the year has got to be the lovely clients of our Noosaville Apartment furnishings handover! We love being able to bring their visions to life and see the smiling faces and warm hearts at the end! You can take a peek at some bts from our Noosaville install here.
REVEALING BAYVIEW ONE TO THE WORLD
And last but not least – a big milestone from this year has got to be the reveal of our Bayview One project! This home was designed, built and furnished by Darren and Elissa for their young family of 5. Set in the bayside suburb of Wellington Point, this new home formed the showcase of many beautiful materials and products from a range of our favourite suppliers.
After a long time coming, we were so excited about finally being able to reveal of all of the spaces with you at the start of these year. Talking you through all the design details, selections and of course, the build process across all our platforms. With a series of reveal episodes which can all be watched here, and a detailed photo reveal for each space – Exterior / Entry, Dining & Lower Living / Kitchen, Scullery & Study / Outdoor Kitchen & Alfresco / Kids Bedrooms & Breakout Space / Kids Bathroom & WC / Primary Suite (in case you missed them!)
