Next on our destination list for restaurants that get the design tick of approval is Adelaide. Known for their amazing fresh produce and stunning wine country, Adelaide has so many great dining experiences both in the city and beyond, so it’s been tough to narrow it down!  

This selection of restaurants from Adelaide has caught our attention for their beautiful design, considered materiality, unique details, and incredible looking dining experiences.

SHOBOSHO

Design by Studio Gram  / Located in Adelaide CBD

“Shobosho is a Japanese word that translates simply to fire house, and that very word, and it’s origin in Japan, served as the conceptual framework for the venue as a whole.” – Studio Gram

Raw timber, sugi ban floors and fabric dividers provide a visual contrast that has the effect of transporting diners without forgetting the main cooking element in this restaurant – fire.

 

 

FUGAZZI

Fugazzi is filled with texture and details layered over each other to create a visually inspiring restaurant experience that is designed to touch all of your senses.  A feeling of the familiar, yet with a distinctly modern interpretation. We look forward to the experience as well as the food whenever we get the chance to visit Fugazzi!

ITL

“ITL has an established poise about the space donning materials from a bygone era making the experience familiar, yet new. Laid with Venetian referenced materials contrasted with minimal concrete form, the space is bound to have you saying something clever and cliched in Italian before you know it! …Ciao, Ciao!”  – Genesin Studio

I am not even sure I could stop looking at the terrazzo floor long enough to pick something from the menu.  We love, love, love this restaurant design!

 

 

ARKHE

Design by Studio Gram / Located in Norwood

With charcoal walls and menu items like “Hot roasted Dairyman mushroom, soy cured yolk, white rice”- our mouths are watering and we’re ready to book our flight to Adelaide!

ITLs use of timber, seagrass wallpaper and leather booth seating has a complexity similar to vietnamese cuisine, with an outcome that gives the impression of simplicity.  The highlight is the eggshell mosaic tables crafted for the restaurant to showcase the traditional method used in Vietnam for centuries.
