Following on from the reveal of the Raby Bay Master Suite a few weeks ago, we thought why not show you the rest of this lush dreamy property!
We were invited to be part of an extensive renovation, addition and interior design project for this client’s property in the prestigious bayside suburb of Raby Bay. An award winning project 12 years ago, built by Stewart Homes, the original design was purpose built for the previous owner’s. Whilst the home boasted large living areas and alfresco areas, it had only one guest bedroom downstairs in addition to the master suite upstairs. When purchasing the home, the client acknowledged that he would need to create additional bedrooms to cater for his international clientele whom he accommodates and entertains regularly during their visits.
As you will be able to tell from the following images, the house was an absolute picture perfect blank canvas by the bay!
BEFORE –
Despite being on the waterfront, the client desired a more unexpected and restrained Australian bush palette of greens, beiges, greys with touches of soft pink. There was a desire to reflect the water outlook in the texture and patterns in the rugs, timber grain and soft furnishings. The client’s brief really allowed us to view this project as a great opportunity to showcase and promote Australian design and manufacturing. A specific request from the client was to purchase predominately from Australian furniture design brands, Zuster and Jardan but it was also an opportunity to design and manufacturer custom furniture pieces with Melbourne furniture designer Christopher Blank.
On the lower level, the entertaining spaces were completely refreshed with new furnishings. The entry features handwoven rug by Sydney designers Hare and Klein, a brass and walnut detailed cabinet with photography by Kett Studios. The client specifically requested a formal entertaining centered dinning space as he hosts catered dinners for international guests. The hero of the space is the custom built Marri live-edge table with an asymmetrical base. Floating above is the suspended Twin Orical Pendent by iconic Australian lighting designer Christopher Boots.
The main living space is light filled and comfortable with view out to the water. The seating arrangement is maximized with large comfortable sofas and relaxed linen covered occasional chairs. The soft Australian tones are continued in this space with a main feature being the over sized Australian timber coffee table.
