So today we’re going to share an exclusive of some of our favourite project specifications with you. Focusing on all the beautiful timber and timber look products we have utilised in a number of our favourite joinery designs – from oak to walnut to blackbutt, we are lovers of a nice natural timber! So if you’re suck on which timber to pick for your next project we hope that these examples, and why we picked them helps to guide you!

Bayview One House
Natural Wire Brushed Oak Veneer w/ Clear Coat 0% Gloss
From the beginning, we knew we wanted to design a light and bright kitchen that was simple but packed a punch when it came to the details & materiality. We worked closely with Farmers Doors to create a beautiful natural wire-brushed oak veneer door with a matching timber handle profile along the top. The timber elements added a lovely texture and warmth to this space – breaking up the white finishes and polished concrete floors! We also complimented this oak veneer joinery with an oak dining table and chairs in the settee area beside.
Main Beach Apartment
Blackbutt Timber (Solid + Veneer) w/ 2PAC clear satin finish
One of the hero features of our Main Beach Apartment is the blackbutt timber cladding! Running from the apartment entry, past the bathroom and through to the Kitchen / Living spaces, the timber cladding features in a cohesive blackbutt grain mixing routed panels with large veneer flat panels. The large timber wall adds a beautiful tactile warmth to the apartment, while also disguising two ‘secret’ full height pivot doors into the Main Bathroom and Primary Bedroom. The blackbutt timber veneer is also carried around the kitchen island in the same routed profile to link the timber materiality and detail. While a solid blackbutt timber bench was added off the island bench to act as a servery / seating space.
Ascot House
American Oak Timber w/ X2 coats ‘Black Japan’ stain
Due to the client’s preference for custom detailing, bespoke black japan stained oak custom timber doors were designed throughout the space including both recessed and projecting panels. Additionally, herringbone detailing was designed for the tall joinery doors in a 1 to 2 thirds split using the linework and considered timber grain direction to elongate the height. To contrast the rich moody palette brass detailing was introduced throughout the new design including inlay strips to highlight the depth of the timber.
Woolstore Apartment
Nikpol ‘White Cape Elm’ Feelwood Prefinished Board
A lighter colour scheme was developed for our Woolstore Apartment with the joinery finished in Nikpol’s White Cape Elm prefinished timber look board. Complimented with the light timber flooring and neutral coloured benchtops + tiles, this tonal palette emits a warm and inviting ambiance to the spaces. This same material was utilised throughout the kitchen, bathrooms and primary bedroom robe joinery for a cohesive feel.

Varsity Lakes House
Combination of Walnut Timber Veneer + Polytec ‘Florentine Walnut Woodmatt’ Prefinished Board
This full home renovation at our Varisty Lakes House called for an injection of a warm toned timber to add interest to the the otherwise crisp and clean new palette. So as BIG lovers of all things walnut, we knew it would be the perfect addition to run through these spaces. So we opted for a true walnut timber veneer for the kitchen rangehood & dining table and custom designed bedframe, then paired this back with the ‘Florentine Walnut Woodmatt’ Prefinished Board from Polytec for the bathrooms & laundry. These two selections worked so well together and almost look identical!
Chapel Hill House
American Oak Timber Veneer w/ 2x Coats of Black Japan Stain + 10% Gloss
This primary ensuite boasts a rich moody palette, creating a luxurious retreat like atmosphere for the clients in this lush Chapel Hill home. With an exquisite level of detail and high quality finish throughout, this bathroom truly is luxury like no other. The combination of the black japan stained oak timber joinery with the soft curved forms elevate the mood of this bathroom oasis. The double coat of black japan creates a deep rich colour, yet still allows the timber grain to peak through beautifully.
