Last Friday night we attended the HIA Brisbane + QLD IDA Awards with the team for a fun night of food, drinks and dancing!
Overall it was a lovely night, with our Brisbane projects taking home a total of 6 Awards! We are so grateful to have these opportunities to receive recognition and celebrate our projects – it really makes all the hard work and long hours worth it!
So let us introduce you to this years Brisbane Award Winning projects…
Woolstore Apartment – Renovated Bathroom over $100,000 + 2022 HIA Brisbane Renovated Bathroom of the Year + Bathroom Design Winner
After a full reconfiguration and relocation of other spaces in the apartment, the perfect footprint for the new Primary Suite was created. Ensuring we spoke the same language as the rest of the apartment, this Primary Ensuite boasts a calming essence with its soft and natural palette. The result is a simplistic curation of function and form that holds a modern yet timeless feel which compliments the existing historic character of the Winchcombe Carson Woolstore Building in Teneriffe.
The open plan suite certainly doesn’t lack in function with the ideal flow between bedroom, wardrobe and bathroom, whilst still providing sufficient privacy when needed. The toilet bay and shower area were both tucked behind tiled walls, giving the users privacy where needed most. Keeping in line with the clean and minimal look, ample enclosed storage is provided through the generous tall robe joinery and display shelving by the bath to showcase the clients notable shoe collection.
Bayview One House – Kitchen Design + IDA Residential Interior Decorate over $100,000 + IDA Queensland Residential Interior Decorate Project of the Year Winner
This double storey new build in Wellington Point was recently completed for the new home of Darren James Interiors co-owners Darren + Elissa. Both the design and build was completed by Darren James Interiors, so each space is filled with beautiful materials, details, and furnishings. It has a beautiful contemporary feel flooded with natural light, high ceilings and light hues, and has become the perfect home for their busy family of 5.
When it came to designing the kitchen, we wanted to ensure we could combine all of the top priorities for the client’s functionality while also creating a seamless space that was visually appealing! A galley-style kitchen with walk-through scullery, a breakfast settee area for casual seating, and a connected study for the client’s school-aged children were all factored into the design. From the beginning, we knew we wanted to design a light and bright kitchen that was simple but packed a punch when it came to those finer details, all while standing up to the durability required for a young family.
The clients wanted the interior furnishings to reflect their strong love of design, the architectural design of the built home and signature design pieces. It was important to support Australian owned and manufactured brands and artists as much as possible. Another important aspect of the selections was quality – the furniture and styling items needed to be of a high quality and made of high end materials that would last to ensure the specification was sustainable.
It was essential that the design was timeless and uncomplicated yet presented statement pieces throughout to ensure it would be enjoyed and appreciated for many years to come.
