There is something about entering the new year that inspires change. Considering the year we’ve had, which has consisted of a whole lot of sitting at home (trying to stay sane), changing up the interior of your home could be exactly what you need to step into a fresh new year! By now you can probably gather that we are big fans of wallpaper, and in this case it really has the potential to breathe a new life into your space without having to spend extra time and money on a complete renovation.
Understandably, wallpaper can be very intimidating, from location down to material. It can be a slow and tedious task for beginners, and you’ll probably come across quite a few questions along the way. Q: Should I pick my wallpaper or furnishings first?
This is a tough one… ideally wallpaper and furnishings should be tackled at the same time so they compliment each other equally. For example, if you’re into a punchy and dramatic designed wallpaper, and haven’t considered the accompanying furniture until after it has been installed, being able to find furnishings to suit can be a tough task… However, if you’re wanting to freshen up a blank wall, a simple textured wallpaper could be the perfect subtle addition that will still compliment your existing furnishings and styling pieces.

Q: Is Wallpaper High Maintenance?
Wallpaper is like an art, so it should be treated the same way… look but don’t touch! There are of course wallpapers that are more delicate than others so it’s important to consider the location of your wallpaper, for more high traffic areas such as hallways we recommend a vinyl wallpaper for its durability.
For any accidental finger prints or smudges of any sort there are some spot cleaners or ‘dry sponges’ on the market that can help keep your wallpaper looking good as new!

Q: How long does wallpaper last?
Once again (I really cant emphasise this enough) it all depends on the application of the wallpaper! When done by a professional your wallpaper can thrive in your home for over a decade! Many people like to opt for wallpaper as a cost effective option due to how long it lasts. With that being said… steer away from trends and find a timeless design that suits your personal space to make the most out of your wallpaper and its longevity!

Q: What is wallpaper made out of?
Now the answer probably seems obvious… but wallpaper has seriously evolved so much that we now have the option to print wallpaper on many different materials. Such as vinyl, grass cloth and silk… just to name a few. Each material has it’s own unique (and beautiful) properties and really helps take your wallpaper to a whole other level!
